Klangbad Musikfestival vom 5.-7. August / Verlosung der Doku-DVD Avantgarde in the Meadows VON  BARBARA MUERDTER   ⋅  27. JULI 2011  ⋅   Das wohl beschaulichste Festival Deutschlands findet seit 2004 ganz im Süden der Republik statt: In der Nähe des 2500 Seelen-Örtchens Scheer an der Donau. Hier hatten sich acht Jahre zuvor die Musiker der Krautrock-Band Faust ein eigenes Studio samt Label eingerichtet, nachdem sie von den profitorientierten Studios und Plattenfirmen die Nase voll hatten. Aus einer Dankeschönparty für die freiwilligen Helfer/innen entstand die Idee zu einem Festival mit etwas anderer Musik, die den Klangbad-Kosmos repräsentiert – Experimentelles ohne Genregrenzen. The Monks Transatlantische Rückkopplungen Mit ihrem in langjähriger Recherchearbeit zusammengestellten Dokumentarfilm »Monks – The Transatlantic Feedback« haben die Filmemacher Dietmar Post und Lucia Palacios (beide waren zuvor u.a. schon bei »The Nomi Song« beteiligt) eine Band, die vor 40 Jahren eine einzige LP herausgebracht hat, wieder ins Rampenlicht geholt. Tonsure yourself Text:  Frank Apunkt Schneider  |  21.07.2011 Die Monks als transatlantische Feedbackschlaufe  Velvet Underground sind als einflussreichste Band der Welt abgewirtschaftet, seitdem jede blöde Indieband sich straffrei auf sie berufen darf. Amtsnachfolgerin wird wohl eine bis vor kurzem eher unterirdisch wirksame, demnächst aber offiziell eingesegnete Band: die Monks. Bei ihnen gibt es noch mehr, noch früher, noch erschütternder: Industrial, (Post-)Punk, Techno und (muss ja auch sein) Heavy Metal. Es besteht also allgemeine Hype-Pflicht. Warum der Hype zur Abwechslung mal gerechtfertigt ist, erklärt geduldig und zum Mitschreiben diese DVD. Sie zeigt, dass die Monks keine plötzlich hereinbrechende Naturgewalt waren (als die miese Rockschreibe große Bands gerne hätte), sondern das Ergebnis unwahrscheinlicher, doch folgerichtiger Zusammentreffen. Dass das so nur in Deutschland stattfinden konnte, wie es oft heißt, bezweifle ich, schon weil’s dem postfaschis...

Ein neuer Film von Dietmar Post und Lucia Palacios, der endlich auch einem größeren Publikum zugänglich gemacht wird.  Es handelt sich dabei um eine neue Serie, die das kleine Film- und Plattenstudio/label play loud! bald in aller Regelmäßigkeit herausbringen wird. Die Serie möchte die Idee der John Peel  Sessions für die BBC mit einem dokumentarischen Charakter, der sich bewußt auf die Musikfilme der 60er (Newport, Monterey, Gimmie Shelter) bezieht, vereinen. Musik soll wieder in aller Ruhe für sich selbst sprechen dürfen. Faust – Live at Klangbad Festival/Various Artists – Avant-Garde in the Meadows Play Loud! Although this DVD was released in late 2010, the footage – shot at the second annual festival held in Scheer, southern Germany- dates from 2005. Scheer is a small provincial town that since the late 90s has been the headquarters of  Faust (or rather one of the two Faust factions, this being the one grouped around keyboardist  Jochen Irmler  and the  Klangbad  label). There are actually two films on the disc- a 70 minute record of Faust’s performance at the event, and a slightly longer film titled  Avant-Garde in the Meadows  which gives an overview of the festival’s three days.
