Camera 'Live at HBC' By Alex Hudson Berlin-based psych outfit Camera have a serious penchant for Krautrock, and they got help from some of the masters during a live show that is now available online. Camera's Live at HBC set was filmed in Berlin for Play Loud! (Live) Music Series, and it features contributions from Dieter Moebius (Cluster), Michael Rother (Neu!) and Shaun Mulrooney (Admiral Black). Floating di Morel: Goal Less Play – Review Since the band’s foundation in 1994, Berlin-based Floating di Morel are known for leaving both audience and critics somewhere between sincere appreciation and genuine confusion. With almost rudimentary equipment and (to outsiders) quite unpredictable intentions, the trio has been cultivating a pretty bizarre mix of lo-fi psychedelic rock’n roll and minimal-postpunk-industrial avant-garde (according to the members’ own description) – a sound which, so to speak, screamingly contrasts with their neat appearance and decent clothing. Apparently that sound puts on many listeners and critics an intellectual strain so big that it constantly supplies fuel for controversial debates on musical aesthetics. Christian Cloos, Redakteur beim Kleinen Fernsehspiel, über den Dokumentarfilm "Donna Summer: Hot Stuff" von Lucía Palacios und Dietmar Post: Der Film hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Die Tagesspiegel-Kritik trifft ihn gut. Donna als Telefon-Gespenst hat aus der Not heraus gut funktioniert, fast wie ein bewusster Kunstgriff zum Thema Identität. Ihr Tod muss für Euch ja ein Horror gewesen sein. Der Film bietet tolles Archivmaterial und gute Interviewpartner (die Schwester war super, aber auch alle anderen), ist sehr sorgfältig recherchiert, dicht erzählt, intelligent und flüssig montiert – einfach ein Genuss. Eine immer wieder inhaltlich und formal überraschende Reise in die 70er & 80er. Der Umgang mit den Fotos ist klasse, die so zu Ausstellungsstücken der Popgeschichte wurden, so wir Ihr auch anderes Material vorgestellt und durchaus die schlechte technische Qualität als Patina in Kauf genommen habt.   Kritik/Emailaustausch zwischen Label und dem Kritiker eines Rockmagazins zu Floating di Morels neuer LP "Goal Less Play" (2013) "Ich bin mir nicht so ganz sicher. Also: Ich habe den Link bekommen, da bin ich drauf gegangen. Dann zu der Floating di Morel-Seite gelangt. Zu hören gibt es da aber nur krudes Rumpelzeug mit Akustikgitarre und schlimmem Gesang, seltsame Sounds und all das ist nie ausgespielt. Ist das jetzt die Platte, von der Du redest? Ich habe mir die Platte von Floating Di Morel gerade noch mal angehört. Leider hat sich meine Meinung nicht geändert, sondern nur verfestigt. Ich finde es interessant, dass Du der Musik etwas abgewinnen kannst. Ich kann es nicht. Das ist mit das Lächerlichste, was ich je gehört habe. Vielleicht bin ich ja zu blöd und abgestumpft, um darin große Kunst zu sehen. Aber an der Platte ist doch nichts dran, was irgendwie begeistern könnte. "Ich finde den Film "Donna Summer: Hot Stuff" sehr gelungen. Musikalisch hatte mich Donna Summer zuvor eigentlich nicht interessiert, sie war halt die Disco-Queen, und mit Disco hatte ich nichts am Hut. Nach dem Film sehe ich das anders, eine talentierte und vielschichtige Künstlerin, die auch Neuland betreten hat und richtungsweisend wurde. Manche Songs, wie The Wanderer, On The Radio oder She Works Hard For The Money sind ja wirklich stark. Dass Ihr sie “nur” als Telefonstimme habt, war vermutlich eine Notlösung, weil Ihr sie wegen ihrer Krankheit nicht mehr vor die Kamera bekommen konntet. Aber aus dieser Not habt Ihr eine Qualität des Films gemacht. Die konzeptionelle Dreiteilung aus A) heutigen Interviews mit Angehörigen und Wegbegleitern, B) Auftritten und Klammerteilen von damals und C) dem Telefongespräch funktioniert sehr gut, und diese Elemente sind gekonnt ineinander verwoben. Floating di Morel / goal less play (play loud! ltd. ed. 330 copies) Melodiös und mysteriös wie nie präsentiert sich das vierte Werk des Berliner Undergroundtrios Floating di Morel. Die Band hat die Songs bezüglich ihrer Länge und die Arrangements betreffend auf das Wesentliche beschränkt: sparsam weben Orgelbasspedal und 12-saitige Gitarre ein feines Grundgerüst, auf dem sich der Gesang von S. Blödorn und K. Drewitz wunderbar in Szene setzen kann. Vergleiche mit den Young Marble Giants oder Syd Barretts Soloplatten sind hier durchaus angebracht, obwohl nur teilweise zutreffend. Die Platte erinnert mich an einen alten amerikanischen Geisterzug, der im gemächlichen Tempo auf stillgelegten ländlichen Streckenabschnitten herum rattert. Jeder Song ein alter verlassener Güterwagen auf dem das Echo längst vergessener Tramps zu hören ist.
