"Anoche vi LOS COLONOS y no puedo más que felicitaros por un trabajo riguroso y emocionante, no solo por lo que cuenta sino por cómo lo contáis. No se ha hecho todavía en España la revisión histórica que proponéis y como se dice en el docu, seguramente el momento ya pasó. Aunque algunos lo piensen, nunca es tarde para revisar la Historia y vosotros lo hacéis desde abajo, desde la VIDA, desde la misma REALIDAD. Ocurre que en este sitio llamado España, seguimos ignorando lo que de verdad ocurrió y destapar esa ignorancia tan instalada y tan aceptada es lo mejor de la película. ¡Destapáis la gran verdad! TVE tiene que poner esta película, la tiene que poner, para que la gente sepa de esta película. Y debería estar nominada para los Goya."

“Last night I watched Franco’s Settlers and I have to congratulate you on a rigorous and emotional film, not only because of the story but also because of how this story is told. In Spain this revision of history never has been made and like someone states in the movie “maybe it is already too late”. Even if some people might think that, I believe it is never too late to revise history. It is you as filmmakers who do it from the ground up, from life itself, from reality. What happens here is that this place called Spain we as people keep ignoring what really occurred. And that is the best achievement of the film how you unveil this ignorance, an ignorance we Spaniards have fully accepted and take for granted. You unveil the big truth! Spanish public TV has to broadcast this film so that people know about it. And the film should be nominated for a GOYA (Spain’s Oscar).”

Donna as a phone ghost, out of necessity, worked well, almost like it was an intentional way of raising questions of identity. Her death must have been a horror for you. The film offers great archive material and good interviewees (the sister was fantastic, as were all the others). It is very carefully researched, tightly narrated, intelligent and neatly edited – it’s a joy. It’s a continually surprising journey, both in its content and form, through the seventies and eighties. The use of the photos is brilliant. They become like exhibits about pop history, and when you introduce other material, we accept the poor technical quality as texture. It’s great how respectful you were, for example in how you introduced all the musicians involved in the single cover. Viele Filme zu Franco - darunter auch preisgekrönte - zielen meiner Meinung nach zu sehr auf das Emotionale ab und darauf, ihren Film zu "verkaufen". Ganz anders in Lucía Palacios und Dietmar Posts Dokumentarfilm. Statt über die Personen zu sprechen, die im Film erscheinen, entsteht ein klarer Dialog mit ihnen. Damit wird es auch dem Zuschauer möglich, sich mit den verschiedenen Protagonisten und deren Haltung intensiv auseinanderzusetzen und das von einer sehr individuellen und persönlichen Warte aus.
