Dominik Wessely über Franco's Settlers



"Francos Siedler" ist ein fabelhafter Film! Habe ihn mir gestern Abend angesehen und bin bis zum Ende drangeblieben - obwohl ich todmüde war. Für mich war es - wie wahrscheinlich für viele hierzulande - ein Augenöffner und eine Geschichtslehrstunde aller erster Güte. Mein bisschen Schulwissen und die wenigen eigenen Erinnerungen (z.B. der Parlamentsputsch 1981, das lief damals auch im deutschen Fernsehen) haben ja nur bruchstückhafte Kenntnisse dieses Teils der spanischen Geschichte zugelassen. Der Film füllt diese Lücke auf wunderbare Weise, und Wahnsinn ist natürlich auch, wie Ihr am Schluß den Bogen in die Gegenwart schlagt! Gruselig!
Natürlich ist der Film von der Form her ein "klassischer" Dokumentarfilm, was mich aber in keiner Weise stört, weil ich finde, dass Ihr dem Thema angemessen mit der Form umgeht. Aber ich kann mir lebhaft die Bedenkenträger in den Sendern vorstellen, die immer auf der Suche nach der modischsten aller Säue sind. Es ist absolut beschämend, finde ich, wenn sich das öffentlich-rechtliche Fernsehen da nicht zuständig fühlt.

The little I had learned in school and the little I knew from the media (the military coup in 1981 was on German TV) gave me only a small glimpse of Spanish history. The film brilliantly fills this lack of information. And it is absolutely amazing how the film at the end takes us right to the current political situation in Spain. Very creepy.

Viele Filme zu Franco - darunter auch preisgekrönte - zielen meiner Meinung nach zu sehr auf das Emotionale ab und darauf, ihren Film zu "verkaufen". Ganz anders in Lucía Palacios und Dietmar Posts Dokumentarfilm. Statt über die Personen zu sprechen, die im Film erscheinen, entsteht ein klarer Dialog mit ihnen. Damit wird es auch dem Zuschauer möglich, sich mit den verschiedenen Protagonisten und deren Haltung intensiv auseinanderzusetzen und das von einer sehr individuellen und persönlichen Warte aus.   “Tagespiegel” (diario alemán): La fama es voraz. Engulle a sus víctimas en cuerpo y alma. El documental "Donna Summer - Hot Stuff" comienza con escenas de un programa de entrevistas de los años 80. El presentador quiere saber qué piensa la cantante de los estereotipos que circulan sobre ella. ¿Diva de la música disco? ¿Reina del sexo? Ella se limita a sonreír con un ligero sarcasmo.
